History

Rabbi Lowenthal was a good friend of Hiram Sheckerberg, a pawnbroker that The Thing worked for. He offered Ben to officiate his bar mitzvah, using his anniversary of his transformation into The Thing as a point of reference, an idea that the Rabbinical scholars Lowenthal consulted let slide. He also helped Ben study for the ceremony.

Years later, Lowenthal was also asked to officiate the weddings of Ben and Alicia Masters, as well as William Kaplan and Theodore Altman.
