History
Ragmar was the penniless court poet of Zarfhaana. After his latest satire, Ragmar was sentenced to death by Varicus on charges of slander and sedition, king and emperor of Zarfhaana, who refused any criticism.
Ragmar fled penniless to Valusia, with Zarfhaanian emissaries on his heels. Bursting into the Council Chamber in the City of Wonders, Ragmar pleaded for asylum. Recalling Sareeta begging for mercy but him unable to free her without killing her, recalling he often said that a true poet was greater than any king, and intending to have Valusia a protector of personal freedom, Kull denied the Zarfhaanans and offered hostel to Ragmar in the Palace, despite the emissary explicitly stating it would lead to war between Kull and Varicus.
The next morning, uncaring of the war that was brewing for his fate, Ragmar found a secret stairway in his room, leading to one of the many treasury chambers. Driven by greed, Ragmar slew the Red Slayer guarding it after he had been barred entrance. Kull later stumbled upon the corpse and investigated the room, where Ragmar tried to slay him but was killed in the fight. As Kull fought not for the freedom of one man, but for all, he kept Ragmar's death secret before the coming battle with Varicus of Zarfhaana.[1]Personality
Ragmar was a selfish individual, who had no afterthought on the fact his safety was ensured by a war between two nations. Blinded by a greed nurtured by his impoverished state, he had no issue killing and betraying his benefactors for his own wealth.[1]
