History
Rahl was one of those who rebelled against Umar.[1] He was also a member of the rebel council who advised their leader, Clea.[2]
Rahl was part of the mission to secretly capture Umar's captain of the guard, Orini, by making it look like he had been killed by Mindless Ones due to the actions of a rebel who was willing to die to kill him.[3]
Rahl was with Clea when Synth arrived to report on how the mission from which she had just returned had gone wrong and only the intervention of an Outcast had prevented her group from being captured. When Rahl mentioned that having the support of the Outcasts might cause the rebellion to gain some powerful allies and wished they could contact the one who had aided Synth, that Outcast made his presence known and stated that he was there. Knowing that real Outcasts could not speak, Rahl realized he was an imposter and attacked with Bolts of Bedevilment but the intruder easily deflected them, then revealed himself to be Doctor Stephen Strange and stated that he had come to aid the rebellion.[4]
After returning with other rebels to their stronghold following a successful mission, Rahl was greeted by Burhn who addressed him as "brother." Later, Rahl was part of a rebel council meeting at which it was agreed that the rebellion was at an impasse and needed more information on Umar's troop movements before they could plan effectively. When Clea stated that she would try again to probe the mind of their prisoner, others pointed out that she hadn't had much luck in cracking Captain Orini's psychic shields and suggested that maybe she should let someone else try. When Strange asked if he might do the probe, Rahl immediately objected, saying that a matter of such importance should be handled by a member of the council. Rahl then agreed to Strange's suggestion that he be allowed to assist Rahl, and was present when Strange used the Eye of Agamotto to reveal all of the secrets that Orini had been hiding, including the fact that Umar was Clea's mother. Rahl was present when Strange revealed this shocking information to Clea and the rest of the council.[2]
Much later, Rahl and all the other rebels (except Clea) went on a most important mission to raid a caravan that was supposed to be secretly transporting power crystals. However, the caravan was a trap and all the rebels (except Strange) were captured in an ambush by a special squad of the royal guard.[2] Sealed in encasement pods, they remained unconscious in Umar's dungeon until Strange and the real Outcasts freed them from the pods and revived them. While Clea battled Umar, Rahl, the other rebels, the Outcasts and Strange joined forces to repel an attack on a city by Mindless Ones that Umar had released.[5]
After Clea had been acclaimed as the new queen of the Dark Dimension and Strange had declined to be her consort, Rahl arrived to speak with her but apologized for coming at a bad time. However, Clea assured him that his timing was excellent. As they watched Strange leave for Earth, Rahl asked if he should come back later but Clea said that he should stay with her, just for a moment.[6]Attributes

- Some online sources claim that Rahl's full name was Rahl Rimba. This is presumably due to a mention of an "old Ral Rimba" in Doctor Strange, Sorcerer Supreme Annual #4. However, aside from the different spelling of the personal name and the addition of a surname, the fact that Ral Rimba was described as "old" suggests that he and Rahl were probably two different characters.
