History

Ray Holder Jr. is named after his father and came from a black family from Cumberland, Kentucky, where they experienced racism. Some time after his mother died, his father started a relationship with Lucinda Guthrie. Tragically, he was murdered with his father when inside a police car that was bombed by Chester Cabot, whose family had a long history of bad blood with the Guthries. The teleporting X-Man Nightcrawler was able to save everyone in the Guthrie car explosion, except for Raymond Sr.
