History

Rebecca Barnes was the daughter of George Barnes and Winnifred Barnes and the younger sister of James Buchanan Barnes. She grew up with her family in Shelbyville, Indiana. After the death of her parents, Rebecca and James were separated. Rebecca was sent off to boarding school while James stayed at Camp Lehigh in the care of their father's friend, Major Samson.
