History

A life model decoy created to assassinate Nick Fury, Agent 1-16 was not based on any extant S.H.I.E.L.D. operative, to minimize chances of Nick Fury seeing her coming. He was still able to avoid her sneak attack, however, and his inability to recognize her thus clued him into the fact "Red" was part of Project Delta.

In battle she was initially put off balance by Nick Fury's gadgets, but her superior strength quickly overwhelmed him. She almost drowned Nick, but he managed to disable Red by bashing her with a broken pipe, and then finish her off with her own knife.

Unfortunately for Fury, Agent L-16's body contained a tracking device that activated when she was knocked offline, allowing S.H.I.E.L.D. agents in the pocket of Project Delta to converge on his location. Furthermore, 1-16 simply booted up another body, allowing her pursue Nick Fury again.

After the Deltites of Project Delta were defeated, the youngest model of 1-16 was captured by and eventually became a legitimate agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Attributes

Powers

As a Life Model Decoy, Red was surprisingly strong and physically superior to the average human.

Abilities

Programmed with S.H.I.E.L.D. training in tracking, armed and unarmed combat. As a tracker she was able to hunt down Nick Fury where several human agents failed and catching him by surprise, though not off guard. Despite being created to kill Nick Fury, and being physically stronger than he was, her unarmed combat skills proved inferior to his own, though she still managed to wound him and he passed out from the effort of terminating her first body.

Paraphernalia

Weapons

shuriken, handgun, knife

Notes

Curiously, Red appeared to have no template identity like other Deltite LMDs. She was never given a name besides her agent number. Fury started calling her "Red" in Nick Fury vs. S.H.I.E.L.D. #5, and the nickname stuck.

She is first referred to the council as L-16, then 1-16. This may be a simple typing error, or have actual meaning, considering she has multiple back up bodies at various stages of the human aging process.
