Wyn is the sole Avatar of The-Powers-That-Be. He is the counterpart of the Centum, the 100 Centivars of The-Natural-Order-of-Things, one of whom is his estranged wife Aiko Maki. As per the compact between the two opposing gods, the Avatar must have a science-based Proxy, and for Wyn, this is Dimitri Krakov.[1][4]

History

The-Powers-That-Be (Earth-616) and Reddwyn (Earth-616) from G.O.D.S. Vol 1 8 001

The-Powers-That-Be appearing to Wyn

Over 1000 years ago,[1] when Wyn was a boy, his parents died in the midst of winter. Unable to start a fire, Wyn knew that he would soon be next and prayed. The magic entity known as The-Powers-That-Be revealed themself as a large, caring woman and embraced Wyn. As he lit a funeral pyre for his parents, Wyn and The-Powers-That-Be made a pact, resulting in Wyn becoming the Avatar.[2]

In the modern era, he met a scientist named Aiko Maki and fell in love, but he never told her about his past or true identity. Five years into their happy marriage, Aiko discovered his secret while working for the Centum, servants of The-Powers-That-Be's opposite, The-Natural-Order-of-Things. A year later, she was promoted to the Ninety-Seventh Centivar, but she had to leave Wyn to do so. When Wyn refused her divorce proposal, she reluctantly shot him in his right eye.[1]

Wyn visited his friend Doctor Strange while the latter was serving as a general in the War of the Seven Spheres.[5]

Wyn and Dimitri crashed the third Hellfire Gala to inquire about Magneto's proclamation of Earth having "new gods" now,[6] as they worked for the old ones. They were evicted for not being invited.[7]

While Wyn and Dimitri were going their separate ways for a while, they were summoned by Doctor Strange; Wyn picked Dimitri up from Sevalith. By trading with the Elders of the Universe for the Buchcub, he and Dimitri defeated the Proto-Mage Cubisk Core and helped stop his Babylon Event along with various magic and science users, including the Centum and Aiko Maki.[1] An investigation into the Cubisk Core incident led them to his Skinner Box and they learned of his connection to the In-Betweener. Returning to the Library of Worlds to inform the Centum, Wyn and Strange soon stopped yet another apocalypse attempt by Robert Forson, who had the same markings as Cubisk Core. Forson also had a Skinner box, and Wyn and Strange decided to enter it.[8]

A while later, Wyn visited Mia DiMaria, a magic user recruited by Aiko Maki, and began training her. He sent her on a mission to retrieve Dimitri from the Black Swans. However, he had to inform her that because she worked for The-Natural-Order-of-Things, she could never be accepted by The-Powers-That-Be.[9] Aiko had regretted her decision and went to the Living Tribunal to undo her mistake, but she accidentally had Mia get claimed by Oblivion instead and she lost both of her eyes as the cost for the trip. She and Wyn lamented together over their lives with the gods.[10]

When Dimitri went missing, his Thing-of-Order alerted Wyn that Dimitri went through a portal but never came back.[11] 100 years into a possible future, the gods defeated the unknown lifeforms from the dimension Dimitri was trapped in and expanded their territory. Future Wyn scavenged the wreckage of Vostok and found Dimitri's remains. Taking Robert Forson's device that Dimitri had, he infiltrated an A.I.M. science facility to take a trip on the SSSC Rite of Passage and was flung across time and space. He eventually returned to the day of his wedding with Aiko Maki, and The-Powers-That-Be greeted him, offering him the choice to continue serving them or to live a normal happy life with Aiko. Wyn smiled.[2]

On 616 Day, when the universes of the Multiverse aligned with Earth-616 in the middle, Wyn enlisted Spider-Man to help him save their universe. They went lab of the original Human Torch, whose origin Wyn claimed to be the genesis of their reality. Fissures to vital moments in 616's timeline opened and a universe-consuming monster called the Eternivore appeared. Spider-Man summoned time-displaced allies, giving Wyn the time to banish the Eternivore with a spell.[12]
