History

Remy LeBeau was raised as a thief in New Orleans, he was a mutant with the ability to charge any object with explosive energy. But his membership in the X-Men didn't prevent him to get out and steal things now and then.

He was one of the many superheroes who joined S.H.I.E.L.D.'s alliance against villains after a mysterious Pulse hit the Earth and left a material called Isotope-8, desired by both heroes and villains.

When Apocalypse later abducted several X-Men and created a new team of Horseman, it was revealed that Gambit was one of several heroes to have previously fallen under his sway.
