History
Remy LeBeau was a founding member of the X-Men alongside Rogue and Colossus. They were led and trained by Professor Charles Xavier at his school for Gifted Youngsters. After a training session, Professor X left to go investigate potential mutant allies enemies to the team. As soon as he left, the mansion began to sound as if it was under attack so the team leapt to discover the source of the sound and found three young mutants held against their will in the basement of the mansion. They claimed to be the original X-Men that Professor X had actually formed to take over the world and that he tortured them and kept them down their when they tried turning against him, so Remy and the others freed them. Gambit and his teammates, now distraught by the news of their Professor's alleged true intentions, joined alongside the other mutants in wanting to destroy the X-Mansion as a form of revenge; but when Remy and the others began having doubts, Cyclops, Marvel Girl, and Beast became angry and quickly faded from sight, confusing the X-Men. They then discovered that Mastermind had sneaked into the X-Mansion, stolen Professor X's Cerebro helmet and used it to project his illusions into real constructs of mutants capable of fighting the X-Men.
Remy realized that the only chance of defeating these constructs was if him and Colossus let Rogue absorb their powers, allowing her to become strong enough to break through the illusions and use Mastermind's powers against him. This plan proved successful and after defeating them, the X-Men were met with the approval of the professor, who they now knew to be the man they always thought he was.[1]
