History

Reverend Robert Sterns was the brother of Samuel Sterns, a scientist studying then-still unnamed Gamma Radiation at the turn of the 20th century. When Samuel's wife Anne left to live with her relatives in Oklahoma, Samuel had an affair with Robert's wife Beatrice. Having discovered it, Robert murdered his brother by bludgeoning him in the head and forcing him to swallow a piece of gamma-irradiated radium. Afterwards, Robert disavowed his wife for infidelity and kicked her out of his house. Beatrice pleaded to him, being pregnant with a child, but Robert believed the child to be in fact his brother's and left her out in the winter cold regardless.
