Robert W. Chambers was an American artist and writer.
He wrote the book The King in Yellow (1895), a series of novels which featured names and locations created by Ambrose Bierce in the short stories "An Inhabitant of Carcosa" (1886) and "Haita the Shepherd" (1891) influenced Robert W. Chambers, including Hastur and Carcosa, and introducing the Yellow Sign.
Chambers' King in Yellow led to the foundation of the Yellow Mythos, as well as influenced Howard Phillips Lovecraft, August Derleth and other Cthulhu Mythos and horror writers. Hastur and Carcosa were mentioned in Marvel Comics as part of references to the Cthulhu Mythos, while Spider-Gwen: Gwenverse #4 (July 20, 2022), which included many references to the Mythos, depicted the Yellow Sign.See Also
