History

Roberto DaCosta's name appeared on a list of mutants that Mystique scrolled through on Stryker's computer while looking for Magneto's file.

Years later, during the war with the Sentinels, as Sunspot he joined the resistance group known as the Free Mutants. He gave his life many times battling the Sentinels, but would be rescued once fellow Free Mutant Kitty Pryde sent back their leader Bishop's mind back in time to warn the team of the coming attack. Sunspot fell to the Sentinels one last time in China to protect Wolverine, whose mind Kitty sent back to 1973 to prevent Mystique from assassinating Bolivar Trask in hopes it would prevent their nightmarish situation from ever happening.
