History

Rochelle Conklin was a student who worked in the Stacy Memorial Dining Hall at ESU and, once she met Kevin, she developed an attraction for him and soon became friends of both him and Adam. At some point, she began working at the Coffee Bean and dating her colleague Kenny Kong.

A Coffee Bean regular named Marv approached Shelly and Kenny after work to be paid beta testers for his video game called the Arcadium, which they accepted. Unbeknownst to Shelly, Marv was the supervillain Mentallo and the Arcadium was an illusion-making machine created by him and Arcade where they could gain information from their unwitting victims by attaching them to the Arcadium and making them live out their fantasies. In Shelly's simulation, she was a famed paleontologist. While trapped in the Arcadium, Shelly and Kenny didn't show up to work for several days, prompting the two Spider-Men to investigate their disappearance. Shelly, Kenny and the Arcadium's other victims were eventually freed from their simulations after the Spider-Men managed to disable it. Traumatized by the ordeal, Shelly and the Arcadium's other victims attended group therapy together. Shelly confessed that she felt awful that Kenny never appeared in her fantasy while she appeared in his.
