Little is detailed about Rocinante’s life before Dreadpool began murdering the inhabitants of the Ideaverse, however it can be presumed that it followed much the same path as Rocinante from the novel, Don Quixote.
Don Quixote was riding Rocinante through La Mancha, Spain when Dreadpool suddenly appeared and was stabbed by Don Quixote's lance. When Don Quixote was blinded and knocked off Rocinante by Dreadpool, Rocinante bolted.[1]
