- —Romeo[src]
History
Origins[]
Romeo is an Inhuman with empathic abilities. He dropped out of high school after a disastrous attempt to show affection to his crush, a fellow member of the wrestling team. Following three months of flirting with him, Romeo stole a kiss from the boy, and got punched in the face in return. Romeo also enjoyed running and gaming. [1]
Working for the Inhuman Royal Family[]
After gaining superpowers when his latent Inhuman genes were activated by the Terrigen Bomb's wandering cloud, Romeo began working with the Royal Inhuman Diplomatic Mission,[2] in order to use his powers to calm down those Inhumans who had just emerged confused from their Terrigenesis cocoons.[1] One of the Inhumans he assisted was Doris Bray, in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona.[2]
During another mission in Miami, Romeo crossed paths with the X-Man Iceman. After the Inhuman they were looking for was subdued, Romeo left with the other members of the Diplomatic Mission, but not before leaving his phone number in Iceman's phone.[1] The following weeks, Romeo and Bobby began dating. The first time they hung out, they went jogging on a mountain. The second date they went laser-tagging. On the third date, they hung out with some of the young X-Men and an Inhuman named Sasha.
On the day of their fourth date, the different mutant factions decided to assault New Attilan in order to neutralize major Inhuman players so they could destroy the Terrigen Cloud with no interference, because it was about to disperse into Earth's atmosphere, making the planet uninhabitable for mutants. Iceman decided to take part on the attack solely so he could slip away from the rest of the mutants once they entered New Attilan and find Romeo. Once Bobby found Romeo in one of the rooms in the zone under lockdown for non-combatant Inhumans, they shared their first kiss and escaped together.[3] Romeo and Bobby's relationship was short-lived, however, and Romeo eventually stopped seeing Bobby.[4]
Fall of X[]
During a dimension jumping event with the Royal Inhuman Diplomatic Mission, Romeo was stranded in another dimension for a decade. Once he finally returned to Earth, virtually no time had passed.[5] He resumed his relationship with Bobby, who also was an adult, after having returned to the past, and started helping him fight criminals like Anuxa.[5]
Romeo participated at the third Hellfire Gala with his boyfriend. When Nimrod crashed the party and killed most of the newly elected X-Men members, Iceman attacked the Sentinel directly. Unfortunately he was defeated and melt down in front of Romeo, who managed to save himself, by teleporting to New York City via Lourdes Chantel's powers.[6] After the Gala, he went to Antarctica and used his powers to gather all of Bobby's molecules dispersed in space and reconstruct his body. Since Bobby was still very weak and incapable of maintaining his body while leaving Antarctica, Romeo stayed in the newly built Ice Palace's War Room. Romeo's job was to inform Bobby about people in need around the world.[7]Attributes
Powers
Romeo is an human with Inhuman lineage possessing the following abilities:
- Emotional Empathy:[1] Romeo is capable of sensing and manipulating the emotions of other people. He uses his abilities mostly to calm people down.[2][1] His powers are boosted when he uses them on a person he has a strong connection to.[7]
- Empathic Display:[7] Romeo can create a hologram that is empathic in nature, not psychic, and he feels it more than sees it. His Iceman icon reacts to Bobby's emotional state no matter where he is in the world, and makes what's happening inside Iceman visible to Romeo on the outside. It helps Romeo affect and aid Iceman's emotional state from afar. Comparable to a status bar in a video game, when Bobby breaks down, his icon breaks down as well.
