In case of his visor being lost or damaged, Cyclops wears an emergency pair of Ruby-Quartz contact lenses that can block some of his optic blasts and prevent him from being completely blind.[1]
History
When Cyclops and Wolverine were rescuing Ugly John, they were called to investigate a wild Master Mold. During their approach, the X-Men were attacked and Cyclops' Visor was damaged. Fortunately, Cyclops had his emergency ruby-quartz contact lenses in. Cyclops later removed them to end the suffering of the dying Ugly John and then to threaten Cassandra Nova.[1]
