History
Rudi Gagarin was a former rival of Nick Fury.
He was born around 1935 or 1936, and had been fighting since he was seven years old.[1] At that age he was fighting German soldiers at the Battle of Stalingrad, for which he received an award from Josef Stalin.[2] After World War II ended, the Soviet Union created Hydra as a response to S.H.I.E.L.D..[3] Gagarin became part of the organization and fought Nick Fury during the 1960s.[3] After the Cold War ended, Hydra was dissolved and Gagarin became a trainer at the Spetsnaz school in Moscow.[3]
In 2001, Gagarin encountered his old rival Fury at a bar and offered him to join up in an island war, to relive the old days. Fury declined, but Gagarin went ahead with the plan anyway. Gagarin persuaded General Makawao to form a dictatorship in Napoleon Island.[4] He then recruited his FuckFace and trained the island army.[5]
Rudi killed General Makawao when he was taken hostage by Fury.[6] He was eventually confronted and killed by Fury.[7]Notes
- In Fury: Peacemaker #3, Peter Kynason gave Fury a newspaper clipping that reported on Rudi Gagarin, at age 7, being honored by Stalin for his efforts during the Battle of Stalingrad. Kynason mentioned that he clipped it from the newspaper "last year." Since that issue of Fury: Peacemaker is set in 1944, it means the news clipping is from 1943, which would make Gagarin's year of birth either late 1935, or 1936.
