Synopsis for "Star-Crossed, Chapter One"
The Runaways battle Swarm, who claims dominion over the city. When Nico tries casting a fumigation spell, she accidentally teleports her and Karolina outside of Los Angeles, because she already used the spell before. Victor Mancha uses his powers to disrupt the electrical impulses that Swarm's bees use for communication. With the Runaways low on supplies, Nico tells the team to go shopping for an hour, avoiding shoplifting if they can.
Molly tries to convince Victor to buy the Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs, but Victor resists. A Skrull prince named Xavin demands that Karolina agree to marry him to settle a dispute between their races. Karolina refuses and a battle breaks out.
A perfect jumping-on point for the series that Wizard said "could be the most original book to focus on teenaged super heroes since Spider-Man debuted all the way back in 1962!" Fan-favorite artist Takeshi Miyazawa returns to RUNAWAYS for a special two-part story that will change the team's lineup forever! When a dangerous alien invades Los Angeles, the Runaways' own Karolina Dean may be the only hero in the Marvel Universe who can stop him... but at what cost?
- While shopping, Molly Hayes wants to buy a cereal called "Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs." This is a reference to the classic comic strip "Calvin and Hobbes" by Bill Watterson, where the cereal made frequent appearances.
