History
The Sakaaran Natives are a small insectoid humanoid race that live in the harsh deserts of Sakaar. Primitive and easily conquered by the Red King's armies, they are treated as second class citizens by the Shadow People and the pink-skinned Sakaaran Imperials. The main threat to this race are the parasitic Spikes.[citation needed]
Alternate Universes[]
Earth-199999[]
The insect Sakaarans originated from Sakaar which was ruled by the Grandmaster, co-living with other aliens who were left stranded in the planet.[1] Some of the Sakaarans had joined the Marauders who attacked Vanaheim.[2]
At some point the Sakaarans became part of the Kree Empire, assisting the Kree militaristically as their loyalty was easily bought. Some of these Sakaarans accompanied Korath and Ronan in the latter's search for the Power Stone. However, they were eventually all killed during the Battle of Xandar.[3]
Earth-TRN734[]
When Thanos traveled to the future to get the Infinity Stones from the Avengers, who wanted to undo Thanos' Blip, he brought the Sakaarans along with the Black Order, Chitauri, Outriders and the rest of his army to battle the heroes. In the end, all of Thanos' army, including the Sakaarans, were wiped out by Iron Man wielding a Infinity Gauntlet.[4]Powers and Abilities
Powers
The Natives of Sakaar typically bipedal, insectoids with four arms and natural exoskeletal armor.
The Natives communicate with a low level telepathy which they call “chemming”. Chemming allows the entire race to share thoughts, memories, experiences and emotions. The Natives are able to share this ability with other sentient species, as Miek shared with the Warbound, whom he considered to be part of his hive.[citation needed]Abilities

Native Queen[]
Like many insectoid races, the Natives of Sakaar are ruled by a queen. The queen is ten times the size of the typical Natives with many legs and a large bulbous body. The queens are developed from larvae selected by worker drones and specially fed in order to become the mother of that hive. They produce thousands of eggs, and their hatchlings follow their orders without question.[5]
Native King[]
Native Kings are the also rulers of the Hive. They are the only fertile members of the race. Native Kings are significantly larger and stronger than drones, and their exoskeleton is much thicker and more durable (sufficiently so to resist multiple blows from the Hulk). Unlike the drones and the queens, they are capable of unaided flight.[5]Level of Technology

Notes
- The Marvel Studios Visual Dictionary identified the aliens in Ronan's army in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie and Thor: The Dark World as Sakaarans.
- All of the Sakaarans in the Guardians of the Galaxy were voiced by James Gunn and his assistant Simon Hatt.
Trivia
- Gunn originally intended for the Sakaarans to be the Badoon, but because they were introduced in the Silver Surfer Comic Books which were a spinoff of the Fantastic Four Comic Books the cinematic rights were owned by the then-separately 20th Century Fox.[6]
