It is possible that fallen angels Sammael and Samael are the same beings.
History
Sammael was an Angel of Heaven who was cast out,[2] and became a demon in Hell.[1]
In modern days, he regularly welcomed his formerly fellow Angel Armaziel to play a board game that represented on a chess-like table the struggle between Hell and Heaven's forces, for over three decades.[1]
The game was once disturbed by a nearly unbrained demon who grabbed a few pieces, causing various effects including the transformation of Jason Maldonado into Soulfire.[3] Sammael restored the board after that tampering, adding new pieces to replace those now unusable, and Armaziel came to play another round. There, she played the "birthright of the prodigal incarnate" and, as the "penultimate movements [were] completed" retreated to Heaven.[1]See Also
