History

The Scatter were a race of parasitic insects living in a hive-mind that inhabited host shells composed of a chitinous titanium-like metal alloy, giving them the appearance of humanoids.[1] This race was captured by the Kree Empire, along with other hive species, so they could turn them into weapons. However, after experimenting the Scatter were demmed a failure by the Black Judges.[2] Because of this, the Scatter began devastating numerous worlds and consuming countless lives. When they noticed the being known as Lore destroying worlds, the Scatter decided to follow her and finish off the planets she had left damaged. The Scatter eventually bought from the slaver Broker the alien Century as he was created by the Hodomurians to track Lore down, facilitating their destruction across the cosmos. One of the races the Scatter decimated with the help of Century was the Prashardians, leaving Skewer the only living member.[3]

The Scatter came across the planet Earth and attacked it, but became involved in a conflict between the Kree Starstealth and the local heroes the Avengers and the newly formed Force Works. Despite the heroes fighting back, with added help of Century who had liberated himself, the Scatter managed to capture Scarlet Witch, Spider-Woman and U.S.Agent and bring them to the latest planet they had taken over.[4] The Scatter left their captives along with other aliens which they intended to devour later. When the Scatter returned to feast, the heroes and the aliens fought back, and were later joined by Iron Man and Century, helping turn the tide. With the Scatter's teleportation array Century managed to transport them back to Earth.[5]

Determined to destroy Earth, a group of Scatter were sent in Houston to set up their equipment in order to generate a wormhole in the sky. Although the heroes took out the Scatter they were unable to destroy the technology which kept operating automatically. This caused the wormhole to be opened and bring the debris of a planet the Scatter had destroyed and crash into Earth. As Iron Man and Spider-Woman held the debris back, Century brought the Scarlet Witch and U.S.Agent themselves to the Scatter's Power Core which fueled their technology. They intended to destroy it, but were attacked by the aliens. Scarlet Witch decided to instead sabotage their navigational system through the use of her powers and Century's staff, Parallax, to reroute the Scatter to the other side of reality, near the end of space and time. It is unknown what became of the Scatter, while those who remained on Earth were impounded.[1]

A Scatter was part of General Kosrouschah's crew. They fought against Monark Starstalker, Paradox and Wolverine, with the Scatter infecting the latter with its eggs. After the attackers were repelled, Monark's robot falcon purged the eggs from Logan's body.[6]
