- —Scotty Summers[src]
History
Origin[]
Scotty is the son of Alex Summers (Havok) and Madelyne Pryor (Marvel Woman).[2] Unbeknownst to them, Scotty's birth was orchestrated by behind the scenes machinations of Sinister and Charles Xavier who planned to used him as psionic battery for his future plans.[3]
Scotty grew up with his parents and their team, The Six whom he treated as his uncles and aunts.[2] Scotty was very close to his mother, but, while he respected his father, he never actually loved him.[4]
During the demon invasion on Earth known as "Inferno" Scotty was kidnapped by demons N'astirh and S'ym. To save her son, Madelyne was forced to make a deal with an evil cosmic entity Goblin Force allowing it to posses her body.[2][5]
At some point, perhaps to prevent him from ever being kidnapped again, Summers had hired assassin Elektra as nanny and bodyguard for Scotty.[2] Elektra took her duties very seriously, always staying by Scotty's side and protecting him from everyone, even his parents if needed.[4]
Goblin Queen[]
When Scotty was around 6-8 years old, his father died, but his body was taken over by a Variant from Earth-616. While Alex himself was disoriented and lacked memories of his previous life in another reality, Scotty was the only one who immediately recognized what this person was not his real father. He restored Alex's memories and demanded what he should immediately return his father back.[2] Unfortunately, Alex had no idea how to do it, but promised to try.[6]
Soon after their home was attacked by the demons. Havok protected Scotty, while the Goblin Force seemingly resurface in Madelyne's body. Scotty no longer trusted his mother, and preferred to stay closer to Alex, since he felt what Alex is a good person and would protect him.[7] They grew closer together in the following months, and Elektra pointed out to Alex what his son was really loving him now.[4]
Goblin Force completely took over Madelyne's body, becoming the Goblin Queen. She mind-controlled her teammates, and some other superheroes and conquered New York. Alex, Scotty and Elektra escaped and joined the X-Men. Goblin Queen sent The Brute after them to bring Scotty back to her, but he failed.[8] She then sent Bloodstorm, who successfully took Scotty away from the X-Mansion despite all of the X-Men trying to stop her. Scotty was brought to Goblin Queen, but he refused to listen to her and was locked in his room. Scotty managed to free The Brute from mind control, but Bloodstorm, Ice-Man and The Fallen stopped them from escaping. Bloodstorm and Ice-Man just wanted to prevent him from escaping, even protecting Scotty from the demons who arrived shortly after, but The Fallen actually decided to kill Scotty for being a disobedient child. The Fallen and The Brute fought for a short time, with Brute being quickly overpowered. Scotty begged Bloodstorm and Ice-Man to help him, and to save The Brute, but they refused. Stressed out, Scotty activated his powers and blasted The Fallen away, but it was not enough to defeat him. Fortunately, Madelyne arrived in time and subdued the Fallen. She managed to control the Goblin Force in her body for a short time and ordered The Brute to take away Scotty as fast as possible. The two left and returned to the X-Men.[9]
While the X-Men and other heroes were preparing for the final battle against the Goblin Queen, Madelyne managed to telepathically contact Scotty in his dream. She told him to bring Havok to her so he could kill her. Scotty, however, foresaw the future, and realized what it would not be enough to deal with the Goblin Force. He put a part of his soul into Havok's body. During the battle Havok was almost killed by The Fallen. His soul arrived an the astral plane and was welcomed by Scotty who brought him to the place where Madelyne's soul was trapped by the Goblin Force. Madelyne was shocked to see Scotty, as he was the target of the Goblin Force all along. But Scotty said what she misunderstood it. The Goblin Force could not hurt him, all this time it was trying to get him not because it wanted to kill him, but to control him, because it was afraid of him. Goblin Force refused to admit to it, and tried to attack, but was purged away by Scotty.[5]
Hunted for his power[]
Some time later Charles Xavier tried to get close to Scotty, claiming what Apocalypse was hunting for the kid. In truth, however, it was Xavier himself who wanted to use Scotty. Havok learned of his evil intentions from Jean Grey and Apocalypse and they managed to escape from Xavier. Eventually, Scotty was still captured by the X-Man and brought to Xavier who planned to use him, Raven LeBeau and X-Man as his psionic batteries to increase his power and take control over minds of everyone on the planet. The Six and other heroes managed to distract Xavier, while Scotty and Raven together attacked and injured him, forcing Xavier to escape. Havok then sent Scotty and Raven with Elektra to the X-Men's moon base, believing that Scotty would be safer there.[10]
Beyonder[]
Scotty returned to Earth when a new threat emerged from the Beyonder and his ally Dracula. Elektra, the X-Men, and the majority of Earth's heroes were killed by the duo. In a final battle between Havok and the Beyonder it was revealed the Beyonder was in fact the Goblin Force in disguise. Havok transformed himself into pure energy and transported him and the Goblin Force to another dimension. Scotty had now lost two "fathers" but his mother had been returned to him.[11][12]Attributes
Powers
Scottie Summers is a mutant with multiple powers:
- Clairvoyance and Precognition: Sometime Scotty had precognitive dreams,[7] but most of the time he just could sense when something bad is happening[13] or going to happen soon.[7][4][14] He could also sense how things are supposed to happen.[5][12]
- Optic Blasts: Scotty can generate blasts of energy from his eyes, similar to his uncle Cyclops, but his blasts are light blue, instead of red. These blasts are powerful enough to destroy the room and injure The Fallen. Perhaps due to his young age, Scotty can't really control this power and it activates when he is under great stress. When his power activates, his entire body is enshrouded in the light blue energy and his eyes also become completely light blue with no visible irises.[9]
- Telepathy: Scotty was able to sense what Alex Summers was not his real father.[2] Later on he put a part of his soul into Alex's mind and telepathically purged away the Goblin Force from his mother's body.[5]
- Memory Restoration: With a touch Scotty managed to restore Havok's memories about his life in another reality.[2]
- Mind Control Removal: Scotty was able to easily free The Brute from Goblin Queen's mind control.[9]
- Telepathic Immunity: Scotty was able to easily withstand Charles Xavier's psionic outbursts that almost rendered various superheroes unconscious from pain.[14]
