History

Selma Blotte lived in Cleveland, Ohio and was obsessed with kidneys, spending most of her time riding the bus to protect her kidneys from what she perceived as an international conspiracy to poison them. Amongst others, she was convinced that Howard the Duck was part of that conspiracy, although she did help him track Turnip Man who had kidnapped Howard's friend Beverly.

Apparently, when she was a young farm girl, she was tricked by a door-to-door salesman Elmer. After she was used by him, she sought comfort from the book he sold her, The Human Kidney, Seat of the Soul.
