History
Stern, a Pennsylvania Senator, presided over the congressional hearing regarding Tony Stark and the Iron Man technology. He tried to convince Stark to surrender the technology to the government, but failed after the inventor upstaged him. He later took some small measure of revenge when pinning a medal on Stark by pressing the pin into Tony's chest.[1]
Some time later, he had a brief meeting with S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Jasper Sitwell, in which he signed off with the words, "Hail Hydra." Sensitive information subsequently leaked from within S.H.I.E.L.D. exposed Stern as a Hydra agent, whereupon he found himself under arrest by the FBI for his involvement with the conspiracy.[2]Notes
- The late Garry Shandling portrayed Senator Stern in the films Iron Man 2 and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Trivia
- Jon Favreau stated that Stern was named after radio personality Howard Stern.[3]
