History

S.W.O.R.D. (an acronym for Sentient World Observation and Response Department) is a counter terrorism and intelligence agency which deals with extraterrestrial threats to world security. S.W.O.R.D. is a subdivision of the better known S.H.I.E.L.D. but appears to be largely autonomous of its parent organization. Since the departure of Nick Fury as director of S.H.I.E.L.D., relations between the two organizations have become strained.[citation needed]

The head of S.W.O.R.D is Special Agent Abigail Brand. Its primary command-and-control HQ is aboard the orbital space station known as the Peak.[citation needed]

S.W.O.R.D. is known to have at least one undercover operative in the X-Mansion: Shadowcat's pet dragon, Lockheed.[citation needed]

Notes

  • S.W.O.R.D. has not been seen since the restoration of the Multiverse following the end of the incursion. It is very likely that S.W.O.R.D. has been replaced by the Alpha Flight Space Program, which would explain why Abigail Brand is a member of Alpha Flight.
