Sentinel City was a large space colony constructed on the planet Mercury by the anti-mutant organization Orchis. It acted as a mining colony that mined resources for Orchis' operations. The mining work was done by Sentinels.[1]
However, the true AI leaders of Orchis, Nimrod and Omega Sentinel, secretly plotted against humans as well as mutants, and instead of directing all the metals mined to Earth, they used much of it to modify Sentinel City into a space station to be used to wipe out all life on Earth.[2]
After Sentinel City was deployed by Nimrod and Omega Sentinel, Manifold transported the Keep into Sentinel City, damaging it and allowing the X-Men and Avengers Unity Division to board the space station and stop the renegade AI.[3]
Nightcrawler disabled the station's thrusters, and Nimrod and Omega Sentinel were defeated. The X-Men and Avengers Unity Division then fled the station before it blew up.[4]

Sentinel City is capable of flying through outer space at high speed and was able to reach Earth from Mercury in a short time. It can also open up like a blooming flower and deploy a weapon that focused the energy of the Sun into huge energy beams.[3]
