• When this group of Earth-712 businessmen who were under the mental domination of the Serpent Crown first appeared, their apparent leader was President Nelson Rockefeller and the group was known as the Cadre Cartel whose international headquarters was in Cosmopolis. However, it was later revealed that this group's real name was the Serpent Cartel and its real leader was Gregory Hungerford Gideon. This change in the group's name has never been officially explained but it is presumed that "Cadre Cartel" was merely the alias used by the members of the secret Serpent Cartel when dealing with the public.
