Shade is a chemical which can be delivered into the body of an intended user through a rectangular transdermal patch that has a taijitu symbol on it.
The effects of this drug has been described as a refined version of Mister Negative's corrupting touch,[1] as it alters people's behavior by lowering their inhibitions and making them susceptible to suggestion.[2] How long this effect lasts for is unknown, but it has been stated it is required for a person to administer periodical doses to remain under its effect.[1]
Those who have overcome the powers of Mister Negative himself seem to be rendered immune to the drug. Furthermore, Dr. Yao Wu has developed an antidote to the drug that can be injected through a dart form or applied by Spider-Tracer.[3] Like Mr. Negative's touch, Shade is capable of affecting those who draw their powers from the Lightforce and Darkforce, switching their polarities.[1] The cure for the drug also works on those affected by Mister Negative's corruptive touch.[3]
