Synopsis for "Shadows Fall"

Misty Knight is in the hospital recuperating from her assault. Her friend and former partner, Rafe Scarfe, visits and tells her to take it easy. He leaves as Misty’s boyfriend, Danny Rand, rushes into the room with a nurse. He tells her he’s going to get her discharged, but Misty tells him to relax and introduces him to the nurse, who is actually Silver Sable in disguise. Sable tells Misty that Paladin and Shroud found no connection linking Mr. Negative to the recent string of murders. However, Sable hands Misty a tablet with information on the real killers. Misty is not surprised by what she sees, having begun to suspect the truth for herself. Danny asks if they need his help, but Misty tells him he has enough on his plate. She goes to call Ben Urich while Sable gathers Paladin and Shroud to take a stand on their terms.

Sable pays one of her street-level contacts, Ten-Spot Tyler, to call the Hand impostors with a tip on the whereabouts of a mobster. He says Sable found the man and took him to the Symkarian embassy in preparation to hand him off to Interpol. Sable tells Tyler to get out of town.

That night, a group of Hand ninjas break into the Symkarian embassy. They follow a voice to a back room and see a man seated, talking on the phone. The lead ninja thrusts a sword through the man’s midsection, but they discover it is a mannequin and the voice they heard is a recording. Behind the ninjas, Misty Knight, flanked by Silver Sable and Shroud, wonders about the lead ninja’s Bronx accent and orders them all to drop their weapons. Misty and her team quickly disarm the men and she pulls the leader’s mask off. Her suspicions are confirmed when she sees Rafe Scarfe’s face looking back at her.

Misty demands an explanation from her old partner. Scarfe bitterly tells her the men they murdered were known criminals who got off on technicalities, and that he and his squad enjoyed killing the “vermin”. Scarfe also confirms he ordered the assault on Misty, but claims it was never intended to seriously injure her, but to make her back off. Misty tries to convince Scarfe and his men to turn themselves in to the police, but they laugh her off, confident that the cops will believe him over Misty.

At that moment, the real Hand bursts through the windows to take their revenge on the impostors. Misty shouts for Paladin, who is set up in a sniper’s post on a roof across the street. Paladin opens fire as Misty, Sable, and Shroud take out the ninjas in the room. As the dust settles, Scarfe grabs Misty and puts a gun to her head. He walks her outside, but comes face to face with the police. Standing among the cops is Ben Urich, who holds a recorder to a megaphone and plays Scarfe’s confession for everyone to hear. Scarfe continues his escape attempt, but Misty uses a pulse from her bionic arm to knock them both off their feet. She and her team then hand Scarfe and his men over to the police. Drained and distraught, Misty walks off into the night as Sable and Shroud look on.
