- The Mandarin's existence in the MCU was first referenced in the Marvel One-Shot: All Hail the King, following the appearance of a fabricated version in the film Iron Man 3.
- There is a little discrepancy upon the Name "The Mandarin" During the One-shot the Interviewer tells Trevor that the 10 rings organization has a story very tight to the man known as The Mandarin, character which he (Trevor) appropriated. However during this film, even though Xu Wenwu does states that he has been known through the years by many names, he also says that "The Mandarin" is a funny name the Americans created to put a face to the 10 rings organization, so it is unclear if he trully had been known as The Mandarin in the past.
- The film has had multiple release date changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic:
- Originally announced to release on February 12, 2021, the film was pushed back on April 3, 2020, along with Marvel's entire Phase Four line-up, to the new release date of May 7, 2021.[13]
- In September 2020, the film was pushed back again to July 9, 2021.[14]
- In March 2021, the film was pushed back a final time to September 3, 2021.[15]
- Filming for this film started in February 2020,[16] and wrapped on October 24, 2020.[17]
Trivia
- Jiang Nan actress Michelle Yeoh had previously portrayed the MCU character Aleta Ogord in the film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
- Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige asked Guardians of the Galaxy writer and director James Gunn beforehand if he would care about Yeoh's recast, to which Gunn stated he wouldn't.[18]
