Overview
The Shotgun-Axe is a unique weapon used by S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Alphonso "Mack" Mackenzie.
History
Having used a large axe to save the life of Director Phil Coulson in the past,[4] Mack lamented not having that axe or an axe-shotgun combination during his first encounter with Lash.[3]
Later, upon being cornered by a group of Watchdogs along with his brother Ruben, Mack jury-rigged a household knife onto a shotgun to use it as a weapon.[5] Having witnessed its potential in combat, Mack spent time developing and building a proper, custom-built version of a Shotgun-Axe. He first used it against the Alpha Primitives controlled by Hive[1] and later continued to wield it on subsequent missions.
When Mack and his team were transported into the future, Leo Fitz put his Shotgun-Axe for safekeeping deep within the Lighthouse so that Mack could recover it almost a century later.[6] Mack had indeed uncovered his favorite weapon in the year 2091 A.D.[7] and later brought it with him back to his relative present.[8]
During a different Time Travel mission while Mack and Deke Shaw were stranded in the early 1980s for over a year, Deke designed and built a new chrome version of the Shotgun-Axe for his friend.[2]
