Synopsis for "The Fallen"

The Void menaces the Avengers. Seeing the chaos he has unleashed, Loki, pleading his father Odin for forgiveness, reclaims the Norn Stones from the Hood to give the Avengers a fighting chance. Mystically empowered by these powerful objects, the Avengers cause actual harm to the Void. Sensing Loki's hand in this, the Void brutally kills Loki and destroys the stones. Thor and Iron Man try coming to his rescue, only to be blocked by the Void's tendrils. Loki's last words are of remorse to Thor.

Meanwhile, Osborn tries to run away, only to run into Captain America's shield. Cap demands to know how to stop the Void. Osborn replies that he sympathized with the Void, but there's no stopping him, for he's the Angel of Death.

Iron Man tells Thor to lure the Void out of Asgard and into the fields. He then remotely takes control of the H.A.M.M.E.R. Helicarrier, instructing Victoria Hand to abandon ship. He then sends it crashing onto the Void, creating a massive explosion that lights up the entire region. In the confusion, Osborn attempts to escape, only for Volstagg to stop him, declaring that he will pay for his sins.

The Avengers find the naked Sentry in the center of the crater. Upon realizing the destruction that he had caused, Reynolds asks that they kill him. However, Thor refuses to, believing that he must stand trial for his crimes. Unfortunately, the Void resurfaces, forcing Thor to unleash a massive lightning bolt that leaves nothing of the Sentry/Void but a sizzling skeleton. As soon as the deed is done, the Watchtower sitting above Avengers Tower disappears. Thor then takes the Sentry's remains into the Sun, where it disintegrates.

The Avengers and Secret Warriors then round up Osborn's followers. Cap throws Osborn himself into the ring, declaring that he will go to trial and be sent to jail. He then turns to Bucky, stating that he will be the Captain America of this era.

Steve Rogers later comes to the White House, where he meets with the President. The decision is made to dissolve H.A.M.M.E.R., begin diplomacy with the Asgardians and more over, put Rogers as America's top cop. Rogers agrees, but only to do it on his terms. One of his requests is to have the Superhuman Registration Act abolished.

As the Avengers celebrate at Avengers Tower, the Asgardians arrive to thank them for their deeds. Heimdall erects an Asgardian tower on top of the Avengers Tower, to signify an alliance between Earth and Asgard. If either is attacked, then the other will fight for them. Thor also proclaims that if the call for the Avengers is made, he will gladly answer. Rogers accepts the offer, for he will need them all for what comes next.
