Synopsis for 1st story
Cindy and Albert finally move out of their parent's home and are roommates pursuing their respective life courses. Cindy feels much more secure in herself to live life freely, while Albert is recovered from his traumatization to be more independent, attend FIT, and is planning his life beyond school. After stopping a theft at a shopping outlet, Silk is gifted a nice outfit by the store owner, which she uses for her first day at her new job with TNM under Jonah- which also earns Norah's enmity.
Cindy is partnered with her deskmate Derick after his NYPD contact gives him a heads up on a story. They investigate multiple homicides of Mulligan gang members in Queens, with clues pointing to some manner of Were Beast. After writing up her story, Cindy and Jonah leave together, but she notices thugs following him and follows as well. When they try to coerce Jonah into retracting a story, Cindy realized she posted her story in her fatigue instead of saving it. Intercepting the thugs as Silk to rescue him, feeling guilty for causing the issue, Silk accepts Jonah's hiring her for his security. Removing a hearing aid from a thug embedded into his head and finding it too sophisticated for a commercial hearing aid, Cindy investigates the manufacturer FUJINET and the company CEO, Saya Ishii.
Elsewhere, Saya Ishii enters an upscale apartment building, where one of her staff informs her some unidentifiable entity is awaiting her. Saya happily greets the cat demon, Kasha, who serves up tea with Saya, asking about her progress. Kasha informs her that the Mulligans refused her terms and were wiped out, pleasing Saya as there are now seven targets left.
