Detailed Summary:
While traveling through space, the Silver Surfer comes across a inter-galactic fighting arena. Not realizing that the warriors are fighting for sport, the Surfer disrupts the battle and incurs the wrath of the main fighter, Algol Demonstar. The promoter stops his attack on the Surfer and convinces him that the battle should be fought by the book, in order to make the most profit out of it.

The Silver Surfer refuses to fight for entertainment and leaves them in disgust. However, the promoter finds out about Shalla Bal and has her shape-shifter turn into the Surfer's true love. The fake Shalla Bal pleads for the Surfer's help and gets his attention. He rushes back to the arena and is attacked by Algol Demonstar. The two battle and, since the Surfer doesn't want to kill him, Algol gets the upper hand. However, before Algol and deliver the final blow, they reveal that Shalla Bal is a fake.

Realizing that he has been tricked, the Silver Surfer destroys Algol's weapon and reveals his true, disfigured face to everyone. With the battle finished, the Surfer learns about the Audience, the alien race that feeds off of watching violent acts. It is they who pay the warriors to battle in front of them. The Surfer insists that they stop encouraging violence, but the Audience and the fighters escape in a transporter to seek out new opportunities. The Silver Surfer is left alone and once again returns to the beauty of the infinite.
