History

The Sixth Light is one of the few post-M-Day new mutant activations since the return of Hope Summers from the future.

While still in utero, the Sixth Light's mutant powers manifested, leaving the entire hospital full of apparently unconscious people. When Hope and the Lights arrived on the scene they were able to infiltrate the hospital with use of Kenji's psionic-blocking ability. Once the group made contact with the mother, the fetus recognized more danger and greatly increased the range of his psionic mind control.[1]

Soon, the Lights were nearly overpowered by drones of the Sixth Light, but finally made psychic contact with him. Each member of the group tried unsuccessfully to convince him that being born was a positive experience and necessity. Ultimately it was Teon who convinced him to be born. With help from Idie, the infant was born without complications. Upon his birth, Hope was able to make contact with him and suppress his X-Gene.[2]

Attributes

Powers

The Sixth Light is one of the few post-M-Day new mutants, and has displayed the following mutant powers:

  • Telepathy: The ability to transfer information from one mind to another and to read the minds and thoughts of others.
  • Mass Mind Possession: The ability to project a psionic energy surge that overwhelms his victims' consciousness while placing his mind in command, allowing him full control of their physical bodies. This power can be exerted over one or numerous individuals simultaneously over a distance of several miles.

Although The Sixth Light had an active X-Gene in utero; upon his birth and contact with Hope Summers, his X-Gene became inactive/suppressed. His powers will presumably re-manifest at puberty.[2]

As a post-M-Day activated mutant, he has the following characteristic:

  • Lights Bonding: The Lights were shown to be linked each other, as when the baby activated, every Light witnessed it.[1]
