History

The Skull Men are an ancient subterranean race of Humans that mastered some mystical arts that allow them to turn their flesh invisible, showing their skull, gain immunity to fire, a flaming aura, superhuman physical abilities and a regenerative healing factor. They live in underground caves somewhere in China.

World War II

During WWII, a young journalist, Mark Todd, found repair in their cave during a Japanese shelling. They said the "Forces of Destiny" brought him to them and they taught him some of their "marvelous lore". Then they sent him back to the surface world to become their "Emissary to the World of Flesh". He then used those powers to fight evil as the Blazing Skull.[1][2]

Powers

They have mastered some kind of mystical arts (described as "marvelous lore"[3]) that allow them to turn their flesh invisible, showing their skull, and emanate a flaming aura.

They presumably have immunity to fire, superhuman physical conditions and healing factor, like Blazing Skull, who uses their teachings to fight evil.

Miscellaneous

Cultural Traits: They live isolated from the surface world and they turn their flesh invisible in order to "not be misled by physical appearance". They have faith in the unspecified "Forces of Destiny", making them believe that Mark Todd reached them to become their "Emissary to the World of Flesh".
