Sluj was created in a lab. It was reported to be the first entirely-artificial genetically-engineered life form/ In actuality the scientists had attempted to create it, but were getting no results. To save their jobs, they cloned their own tissue and mutated it to complelty remove it's human appearance. Their boss announced their new discovery and the team paniced and flushed Sluj down the toilet and made it appear as though a religious zealot had attacked the lab. Sluj remained in the Hudson River, where it ingested all the sewage and pollution dumped into the river, growing in size. Sluj was detected by sonar and Namorita went to investigate and was engulfed by it and then Sluj engulfed a cruise liner and took all the passengers. Namor went to investigate his missing cousin and was attacked. Sluj gave up and moved to New York City and began to attack several ships and was able to absorb Namor. Namor escapes with one of the captured civilians and is greeted by the creatures creators. They explain his origins and give him a gene scrambling agent to deliver into Sluj. The agent was able to kill Sluj and in its death throws, it kills its creators.[1]
