History

The New York City Police Department outfitted one of its members with the costume and gear of the dead supervillain Slyde, and had him infiltrate New York City's criminal underworld through the Bar With No Name; while undercover at the bar, the officer witnessed the first battle between Spider-Man and Overdrive,[1] and the bets that the Bookie took regarding what could be inside Freak's chrysalis.[2]

The NYPD later had Slyde stage a diamond robbery on 47th Street as apart of a sting operation intended to lure out Spider-Man. When Spider-Man appeared, Slyde attempted to arrest him, but the Wall-Crawler evaded him and his Mandroids.[3]
