The Southern Desert was an arid patch of lands spanning from southern Kush, across outer Stygia, Shem, the Kothian uplands,[1][2] and Zamora.
From south to north, the Southern Desert was comprised of the following regions, comprising various cities:
- The Southern Desert of Kush,[2] and the cities of Tombalku (center of the past Aphaki "empire")[3] and Xuthal,[4] home of Thog the Ancient;[5]
- The Southern Desert of Stygia,[2] and the city of Gazal, built by the Gazali,[6] formerly from southern Koth circa 10,900 BC;[7]
- The Southern Desert of Shem;[8]
- Shan-e-Sorkh, the Red Waste,[2] and Akhlat the Accursed,[9] dwelling of a gorgon;[10]
- The Southern Desert of Zamora,[11] and the city of Hanghara, home of "Sodatha."[11]
