The woman who would come to be known as Sparrow was the adopted daughter of Lei-Kung and a childhood friend of Danny Rand.[4] Due to being a slave, she had no name, but Danny nicknamed her Sparrow due to the way she flittered around.[5] Despite girls not being allowed to train, Sparrow was quite proficient in combat and able to hold herself against the boys.[3]

Sometime after the defeat of Nu-An and the renounce of the old ways,[6] Lei-Kung chose Sparrow as the new Thunderer of K'un L'un.[2] During the destruction of this holy city, she was spared, but her eyes were taken by her adoptive brother, Davos.[2][7]

Despite her blindness, she never stopped training and, when Danny was beaten up by The One, she carried him up the Himalayas until they reached a cave, where she started a fire to warm Danny's cold body.[7]

Sparrow trained with Danny and nursed him back to health,[5] and the two eventually made their way to New York to fight Davos and The One once more.[8] After they were finally defeated, Sparrow was elected the new Yu-Ti, the leader of K'un-Lun, and returned home to help rebuild the city while she chose Danny as the new Thunderer for the new Iron Fist Pei.[9]

Sparrow led the defense of the city when it was attacked by Choshin and his forces, who were defeated with the help of Danny, Shou-Lao, Sabretooth[10]

When the Urchin escaped from K'un-Lun's catacombs and made its way to New York City, Sparrow traveled to warn Danny but was too late to stop the Urchin from spreading its influence. Sparrow, Danny and the other heroes in the city worked together to destroy the Urchin and cured its victims from its infection.[11]

After Danny and Pei were forced to give up the Iron Fist to revive the dragons of the Heavenly Cities, Sparrow watched over Shou-Lao's reborn egg. When the gravely injured Lin Lie washed ashore to K'un-Lun, Sparrow watched Shou-Lao witnessed and save Lie with his chi, turning him into the new Iron Fist. For several months, Sparrow took Lie under her wing to help boost his confidence and control his new powers.[12] Sparrow and her best warriors were summoned as reinforcements by Danny when Lie was fighting against Lin Feng and Chiyou's demons at Gansu, but Feng hijacked her portal to K'un-Lun, leaving Sparrow and her forces displaced but Danny offered them housing.[13]

Sparrow attended Danny's funeral after he was killed by the Ch'i-Lin.[14]

Sparrow and Pei entered as a team in the Dragon's Challenge tournament held in Madripoor but lost to the Sisters of Stone. They celebrated with the other participants after Spider-Boy won the tournament.[15]
