Synopsis for "To Fight the Fury"
Spider-Man is summoned by Merlyn to aid Captain Britain in battling the The Fury, but in the end the cybiote proves unstoppable. In order to save Earth from it, Merlyn transports both the creature and Captain Britain to an unpopulated dimension, hoping that the Captain will one day find his way home...
Notes
- Even though Spectacular Spider-Man (UK) takes place in its own continuity, this issue explicitly calls its setting Earth-616. Stuart Vandal in a personal dialogue with writer Jim Alexander learned that the latter did not know that Earth-616 was a designation of the main Marvel Universe and used the number as a reference to Alan Moore's Captain Britain comics.[1] Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe A to Z #4 explains this stating that Merlin summoned both Spidey and Cap of Earth-9411 to 616 to stop the Fury, also confirming the Fury appearing there is not the original but its facsimile.
- The Merlyn seen in this story appears to be the version native to Otherworld, as it was established in The Daredevils #1 that Merlyn exists across multiple dimensions and appears not to have any alternate universe counterparts.
- This version of Captain Britain appears next in Marvel Heroes (UK) #15.
