The Spectacular Spider-Man is a superhero animated series developed by Victor Cook and Greg Weisman, and co-produced by Marvel Entertainment. It follows the titular hero's early adventures while also trying to balance his high school life. The series' tone and style mainly draws inspiration from Stan Lee, Steve Ditko and John Romita Sr.'s work on The Amazing Spider-Man, though also includes elements from other Spider-Man media.
While five seasons were planned, the series was canceled after only two due to legal troubles between Disney and Sony Pictures Television. Despite this, it garnered critical acclaim for its writing, animation style, voice acting and faithfulness to its source material. Many fans refer to it as among the best Spider-Man adaptation.
