Synopsis for "Season of the Serpent:Part 2 of 6: Rising Storm!"

Picking up where the last issue left off, May is engaged in a passionate kiss with Normie Osborn at the Web Site. Her inner monologue gives herself a pat on the back for finally trusting her instincts and settling on Normie, whom she presently feels she was destined to get together and live happily ever after with--

Normie breaks their kiss and alarmedly asks what she's doing. May, stunned because she thought Normie liked her, has to have the boundaries set. As he walks away, Normie says likes her as a friend, he has a girlfriend, and May's father would kill him if he suspected they were together. Normie tries to turn back and admit he may not be handling the situation as well as he could, but finds May has already left.

Tears streaming down her face, May is still carrying her mask in hand as she lands on a snowy rooftop, and pulls it on. She heads home, and frustratedly throws her mask on her bed, but the noise of MJ crying out in the hallway bursts May's bubble. Rushing out to meet her parents, Peter assures May that things with the baby are fine, but MJ is just a little upset. May rejects that, because she says her spider-sense - more attuned to such things than Peter's - can detect lies. It is MJ who gets them to back down, and she explains what May needs to know about the baby.

The next day, at Midtown High, May narrates that her father's radioactive spider blood is complicating the pregnancy, but that that Fantastic Five are already working on MJ's treatment. May comes upon her friends, and finds Jimmy Yama is organizing a blood drive, with help from Meagyn Brady.

Back at the Soldiers of the Serpent hideout from last issue, crime scene investigators Phil Urich and Peter Parker discuss Spider-Girl's involvement in brief, with Phil urging Peter to trust Spider-Girl to handle herself, when Lieutenant Haberstein redirects them back to Midtown South to debrief the brass - apparently, a Serpent who was captured by Spider-Girl claims his organization has access to a nuke.

May slips into the girls' washroom and tries, but fails, to reach Normie. Davida Kirby walks in on her and discovers May has a cell phone - a secret May has kept from her, which Davida finds hurtful. A call from Peter breaks up the awkward moment, and he requests May pick up an antidote for MJ from the Fantastic Five that is now ready. Peter says he will be too busy with a work meeting to do the pickup himself.

Phil is seen at the Web Site suiting up as Green Goblin, imagining what a boost it will be to his heroic reputation if he can defeat the Soldiers of the Serpent. Normie urges caution, but dodges a question from Phil about whether he's talked to Spider-Girl.

May narrates that she has placated Davida about the phone, but still has not reached Normie. Suiting up as Spider-Girl on the rooftop of the school ahead of swinging to Five Freedoms Plaza, May considers how she used to have a crush on Franklin Richards, her general issues with executing a relationship with anyone, but also wonders if she can ever face Normie again after what happened. She takes a call from Green Goblin (Phil), who has located the Soliders of the Serpent boarding a freighter at the docks.

The two heroes work together, but realize stealth would be important to neutralize their nuclear device first, or else they might be tempted to use it rather than be captured. Spider-Girl says she will go in first and use her spider-sense to locate the bomb. She sneaks aboard, but her phone buzzes at an inopportune time, revealing her presence to the Soldiers of the Serpent. While talking to Davida - and trying to explain the background action and gunfire as being a TV show she is watching - Spider-Girl tries to fight the soldiers. She is successful, until the boss arrives, and thrashes Spider-Girl into unconsciousness.

Franklin Richards calls Peter to ask when Spider-Girl might arrive, surprising Peter who thought she would have been to Five Freedoms Plaza by now. Peter wonders aloud what could be more important than picking up MJ's medicine?

Spider-Girl's is upside down, and in the process of being restrained to an anchor by soldiers welding her with metal strips at the hands, biceps, and lower legs. Green Goblin spots Spider-Girl in danger, and tries to fly in on his glider to her rescue, but the serpent leader strikes him with an optic blast. Spider-Girl exclaims about how he murdered her Uncle Phil, and swears to avenge him, but the unmoved Serpent Leader, in a display of super strength, lifts up the anchor and urges her to save her breath, as he hurls Spider-Girl overboard and into the river.
