Synopsis for "Year One: Part Four"
A weakened Otto Octavius wanders the rainy streets of New York as he slowly dies to radiation poisoning. While walking about, he discovers that the public has named him "Doctor Octopus", and he accepts the title as he steals clothes from pedestrians on the street. The sickened Otto is nearly run over by a taxi when he stumbles into the street, but his arms protect him and he destroys the taxi instead. From a television in a storefront window, Otto hears the news that the nuclear powerplant in the city overheated and came close to a meltdown.
Some time later, in his apartment, Otto deconstructs the Spider-Tracer that he found on himself, left by Spider-Man in their last battle. Otto takes the tracer to a man known as the Tinkerer where he makes plans for some sort of modification. As Otto leaves the Tinkerer's hideout, his sickness get worse and he approaches death. However, instead of dying, Otto is miraculously healed in an act that he attributes to radiation, whom he sees as his "mother". Otto makes plans to go to the nuclear powerplant in the city and he receives many duplicates of Spider-Man's Spider-Tracers, created by the Tinkerer. Otto stands in his apartment, surrounded by boxes of Spider-Tracers all printed with an environmentalist slogan on them.
