Cast
- Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus / Otto Octavius[4]
- In response to Molina's confusion about the fate of Doctor Octopus from the film Spider-Man 2, director Jon Watts told Molina, “In this universe, no one really dies.” Early conversations Molina and Watts had about Spider-Man: No Way Home had his character pick up from his death in Spider-Man 2. Digital de-aging effects will be used on Molina.[5]
Notes
- Right after the release of Spider-Man: Far From Home, negotiations between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures largely regarding the shares of the revenue of the Spider-Man films broke down, thus ending Sony's deal to have Spider-Man appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.[9] Due to the fan backlash and Tom Holland's pleading with then-Disney CEO Bob Iger, negotiations were resumed a few weeks later.[10] At the end of September 2019, the two companies announced that they'd continue their collaboration for a third Spider-Man film and another MCU movie where Spider-Man would appear.[1]
- Originally scheduled with the American release date of July 16, 2021,[1] it was pushed back to November 5, 2021,[11] then again to December 17, 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[12]
- Filming started on October 16 2020, in Queens.
- The title of the film was revealed via Twitter by Sony on February 24, 2021.[13]
