Synopsis for "The Devil Is in the Details"
After Spider-Woman finds a beaten Lindsey, she is ambushed by Serpent Society members Puff Adder and Coachwhip serving on the Thunderbolt Units. Not in the mood, Jess overwhelms them into fleeing in fear and cripples an officer for the Thunderbolts Unit. Taking the officer's uniform, she gets Lindsey medical attention, but as the doctor explains they had to sedate her, Lindsey barely wakes up exclaiming she knew it wasn't Jess.
As the doctor asks if she knows Lindsey, Jess threatens that the hospital staff treat her well or else, before jumping out a window. Returning to where she left the officer, she demands to know who hurt her, with the officer asking if she even watched the news[1], prompting Jess to threaten he give her the synopsis. She breaks her cast with the amount of Venom energy coursing through it to exemplify her point.
At Gracie Mansion, Wilson Fisk is on the phone with his wife Mary Walker-Fisk and lets her know he'll see her for dinner after taking care of some remaining business. Hanging up the phone, he is greeted by his one time ally[2] Spider-Woman and acknowledges knowing her identity again, before she attacks him while badly quoting song lyrics to annoy him. But while Fisk admits Lindsey was collateral damage, his real aim is the other heroes of New York and he aims to protect the city without costumed vigilantes.
While she's unfazed by his want to incarcerate the superhero community, Fisk ragingly exclaims it is because of Daredevil affecting everyone's minds to blindspot his secret identity,[3] much to Jessica's mockery. But as he laughs at her, he finds she really doesn't know a thing about who's been coming after her, since she isn't worth his time.
At Ravecroft a short time ago, Fisk went to a cell of an inmate screeching for her freedom, someone he was saving for a special occasion. Meeting her outside her cell, he promised her placement in his organization if she were to eliminate Spider-Woman. Offering her "creative freedom" on how she did so, Fisk compiled a dossier on Jessica and her current life, giving it to the inmate for study.
At present, Jessica is horrified as the inmate discussed was confirmed dead years ago, but Fisk admits Norman Osborn kept certain trophies hidden from the public eye. As Jessica battles a slew of Thunderbolt Officers, she exclaims that she'd have been offended Fisk didn't send Taskmaster after her if she wasn't so furious.
A surprised Fisk finds her dumber than he originally thought, asking how she doesn't realize this is all her fault. Although threatening to kill him, she demands an explanation and he tells her that she abandoned Lindsey despite knowing there was danger around her then. As back on the film set,[4] a crew member shapeshifted into Jessica's original look before attacking and capturing Lindsey. Not wanting to miss dinner with his wife, Fisk tells Jess that he included information about her son, Gerry, prompting her to dive out the window racing to the clinic.
As the officer removes his bindings, she admits to not being prepared for Jessica's intimidation tactics and is revealed to have been Veranke all along. As Jess races across New York City, Veranke enjoys taking a stroll in the open air in her original form, eager at the possibilities. At the clinic, Linda is met by Jess who assures her everything is fine, and wanted to keep Gerry "safe" with her.
