Synopsis for "Beginnings"
A man in a suit of armor killed Dr. Karl Swensen before acquiring a safe.
At M.I.T., students known as the Troubleshooters were working on a tractor before Dr. Swensen's daughter Professor Jenny Swensen entered the room and offered to help them. Then, she was visited by detectives Sloan and Jenkins, who informed her of her father's death, as the Troubleshooters eavesdropped.
Two days later, Jenny went to her father's funeral, where Fritz Krotze of Krotze International allowed her to remove any of her father's personal belongings from his lab until 10:00 AM the next day. She entered the lab, opened her father's computer, and saw a message left for her warning her about Krotze, but before she could finish reading, she was asked to leave at 10:00 AM.
Afterwards, Jenny tried phoning Krotze, but was told that he was in Europe. Later, Jenny's martial arts instructor noticed that she was acting angrily after her father's death.
At a dorm in M.I.T., the Troubleshooters were working on a project that involved hacking the Yale scull team during the next M.I.T.-Yale race. Jenny entered the dorm and told them about her visit to Krotze, but decided that she didn't want to involve them. However, the Troubleshooters decided that she needed their help.
Jenny returned to Krotze's lab and was joined by the Troubleshooters, much to her initial disapproval. She entered her father's lab, read his message, and learned about his attempts to keep M.A.X. from Krotze and his involvement in his death. In order to escape, Jenny pressed a button and revealed that her father's lab was actually split into three parts and sat on three tractor trailers. Then, they entered the trucks and escaped by driving through the walls, alerting Krotze's guards.
At Krotze International's main headquarters, Krotze learned about the break-in and sent a man in the M.A.X. Model I armor to track down Dr. Swensen's lab. Jenny got into M.A.X. Model II, which was left inside of her father's lab, and named the suit Spitfire before creating a cave to use as a hideout for her and the Troublemakers. Then, they were located by Krotze and a fight broke out between the man in the M.A.X. Model I armor and Spitfire, ending with the latter winning. Spitfire located Krotze's limousine and was prepared to kill him with her suit's buzzsaw, but decided not to give into her anger and vowed to find proof that he killed her father.
After the battle, Spitfire and the Troubleshooters made their way to New Hampshire with their father's lab.
