Squirrel Girl's Costume

History

Original Costume[]

The original costume of Doreen Green was designed by her mother Maureen. It included the squirrel theme elements that would remain common in many subsquent suits, such as the squirrel ears, the tail, and a utility belt with a nut stash.^[1]^[2]^[3]

Great Lakes Avengers Costumes[]

During her time with the Great Lakes Avengers, Doreen's costume was similar to her original one, but with a few alterations such as more fur on the chest and smaller belt pouches.^[9] She also briefly used the Great Lakes X-Men costume designed by Leather Boy while the team were imitating the X-Men's black leather uniforms.^[10]

Brown Squirrel Costume[]

Also designed by Maureen Green, the brown squirrel outfit replaced the vest with fur-lined bomber jacket with exposed sleeves, changed the fur boots to more traditional altenative and switched the utility belt color to yellow.^[2]^[3]

Gray Squirrel Costume[]

The bray squirrel costume designed by Doreen's friend Nancy Whitehead was specifically made as an alternative for warmer weather^[2] and was a significant departure from the previous tradition, featuring a skirt, lighter boots and red utility belt.^[11]

Flying Squirrel Suit[]

During her partnership with Doreen, Melissa Morbeck designed for her a flying squirrel suit which allowed for flight and gliding via jetpack and wings.^[7]

U.S.Avengers Uniform[]

During her time with U.S.Avengers, Doreen wore a uniform designed by A.I.M.; a patriotic American variant of Squirrel Girl's bomber jacket costume.^[4]

Special costumes[]

Using "borrowed" pieces of Iron Man Armor, primarily Iron Man Armor Model 13, Squirrel Girl was about to cobble together a suit dubbed "Iron Squirrel Armor Mk I" which enabled her to break into Avengers Tower to "borrow" more armor.^[12] The resulting "Iron Squirrel Armor Mk II" made primarily from various Hulkbuster Armors, allowed her to travel to the Moon.^[13]

When she was transported to the 1960s without any of her equipment, Squirrel Girl used a change of outfit and a simple domino mask to hide her identity.^[14]

When she was able was able to lift and wield the Mjolnir, her costume transformed into a suit of Asgardian Armor.^[15]

Doreen used a souvenir swimsuit as a makeshift costume during her vacation in the Savage Land.^[16]

Loki conjured a magical space outfit for her to be used during Squirrel Girl's interstellar journey.^[6]

Squirrel Girl had an Arctic adventure variant uniform that was thrown out by Maureen due lack of use, and replaced with a newer snow outfit, used during the War of the Realms.^[3]
