Blur was a construct created by the demon Mephisto and programmed by the Power Elite in cooperation with a recently-revived Agent Coulson to be a member of the Squadron Supreme of America, a superhero team sponsored by the U.S. Government. Due to his superhuman speed, Coulson conditioned Blur by strapping him to a chair and forcing him to watch numerous screens at once, which displayed from execution videos to celebrity sex tapes. Blur was programmed to believe that he was Stanley Stewart, a man whose powers were granted by a strange mist he happened to jog through, which altered his body chemistry. Due to his powers, Stanley occupied his personal time working at numerous jobs, namely as a mail carrier, window washer, dog walker, barista and computer programmer. Sometimes doing all of these activities in the same day.

Blur and his team were brought in to meet General Ross in order to be the U.S.'s response to the now-unaligned Avengers.[1] The Squadron Supreme was later put to the test against King Namor and his Defenders of the Deep, countering several attacks against Roxxon in American waters.[2][3]

Stanley was working on programming when a group of Frost Giants from Jotunheim invaded Washington on behalf of Malekith the Accursed during his War of the Realms. As Blur, Stewart met up with the rest of the Squadron. They killed some of the Frost Giants and routed the remaining invaders to the Canadian frontier in Lake Erie. Coulson subsequently dispatched the team to Ohio.[4]
