History
Slayer King Starr was the warrior king of Zardath, an ancient European city that far predated Sumer and was highly advanced because it had been the site of the earliest White Event to hit the Earth of Earth-555. This White Event ascended Starr, granting him the Starbrand-glyph on his forehead, and three others: Nightmask (Trull), Cipher (Baneth), and Justice (Ukru).[2][3][1]
When Baneth created a machine that could communicate through the Superflow, Starr received warnings from a machine relaying a message from Earth-228 that Trull had betrayed him, but Trull sabotaged the device. The Communications Station in the Superflow had tried to warn Starr before, and in one final plan, it decided to backtrack along the temporal path and implant a message into a mortal woman named Gila during the White Event. Trull attempted to silence the warnings and transformed Gila into a monster, but Gila was able to write down her message before her death and Starr learned of Trull's treachery.[1]
Eventually, Zardath fell, seemingly due to nuclear weapons or a nuclear accident.[3] Starr's tomb and the ruins of Zardath were unearthed in 2006 in modern-day Latvia when another White Event hit Earth.[2]Attributes

Notes
- Starr was based on the character Starr the Slayer, originally created by Roy Thomas and Barry Smith in the horror anthology Chamber of Darkness #4 in 1970.
- Newuniversal #1 and Newuniversal #3 both state that Zardath predated the Sumerian city of Uruk, but the date given in the story from Newuniversal: Conqueror #1 is 2689 B.C. This is either a mistake or Starr, Trull, Baneth, and Ukru all lived for millennia.
